Tourism - L'Isle-sur-la-Sorgue: the village of antique dealers
Share
Located 24km from Avignon, the charming village of L'Isle-sur-la-Sorgue is a must-see when visiting the region. With its town centre encircled by the Sorgue river (hence its name "island"), its bridges and its houses made of white or ochre-tinted stone, it is a peaceful town perfect for strolling.
But it is above all for its antique dealers that L'Isle-sur-la-Sorgue has acquired its current renown. True local institutions , these antique dealers and secondhand goods merchants have been developing a high-quality selection since the 1960s, which they present in the six "villages" located in the heart of the town . And their reputation is undeniably well established: in addition to their shops, open year-round, their activity is punctuated by the International Art and Antiques Fair, held twice a year , which brings together 500 professionals and more than 100,000 visitors from all over the world!
This event, Antiques Art & You , allows professionals to present their selection, which revolves around numerous themes:
- contemporary art
- antiques
- decorations
- old books and old documents
- vintage
- design
This event brings the city to life, offering a wide range of activities, concerts, and exhibitions . The full program is usually available from the city's tourist office a few weeks before the event.
Between the works of art and the collector's items, don't hesitate to come and hunt for a typically Provençal souvenir while strolling through the narrow streets to discover the city and its thousand treasures.
